SnipFic Privacy Policy — Long Version
Last Updated: December 4, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how Spire Interactive, LLC (“Spire,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, stores, transfers, and protects personal information when you access or use the SnipFic website, mobile applications, and all associated services, tools, features, and shareable asset capabilities (collectively, the “Service”). Your use of the Service constitutes your acknowledgment of and agreement to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these practices, you must discontinue use of the Service.
1. Who We Are
SnipFic is owned and operated by Spire Interactive, LLC, based in Foothill Ranch, California. For users located in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom, Spire Interactive serves as the “Data Controller” responsible for determining the purposes and means of processing personal information. You may contact us at support@spireinteractive.com regarding any privacy-related questions or concerns.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in several ways: directly from you when you choose to provide it, automatically through your device and interactions with the Service, and indirectly through other users’ interactions with your content or profile.
2.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, username, encrypted password, and date of birth. You may also choose to provide optional profile information, including a bio, profile picture, and personal link. Any creative work or comment you publish on SnipFic becomes part of your “User Content,” which we process as part of operating the Service. When you contact us by email or through forms, we collect the content of those communications.
2.2 Automatic Collection
As you use SnipFic, we automatically collect technical and usage information through tools such as Firebase Analytics, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Crashlytics, and other diagnostic and performance services. This includes device identifiers, device model, operating system version, IP address, session activity, app usage patterns, performance metrics, crash logs, timestamps, and general coarse location based on IP address. We do not collect GPS-level location information.
2.3 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on the web version of SnipFic to support security, authentication, and analytics. We do not use third-party advertising pixels or trackers that build behavioral profiles across the web. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect Service functionality.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to operate, improve, and protect SnipFic, specifically to:
Provide the Service: Create and maintain your account, enable you to publish stories, view content, interact with others, and generate or share SnipFic-branded assets based on your posted content.
Age Gating and Safety: We use your date of birth to verify you meet the minimum age requirement for your region (13 years old in the United States) and to restrict access to content labeled as "Mature" or "18+" for users under the age of 18.
Personalization: Tailor the stories and users suggested to you, determine what appears in your feed, and adjust recommendations based on your interactions.
Security and Performance: Maintain the security and stability of the Service, investigate abuse, enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, respond to reports, and comply with copyright disputes or DMCA notices. We process data to diagnose crashes, analyze performance, and troubleshoot bugs.
Communication: Contact you about updates to the Service, changes to legal terms, security alerts, or—if you choose to opt in—limited promotional announcements about SnipFic.
Contextual Advertising: Display advertising or sponsored content that is relevant to the content you are currently viewing (e.g., a fantasy book ad on a fantasy story). We do not use your personal history to build a behavioral ad profile.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
For users in the EU/EEA/UK, we rely on several permissible legal bases for processing personal data:
Contractual Necessity: Processing needed to provide the Service (e.g., account creation, hosting content).
Legitimate Interests: Improving service functionality, securing the platform, preventing abuse, and analyzing usage.
Consent: For optional communications or specific features. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legal Obligation: Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising.
5.1 Service Providers
We share information with trusted service providers who process data strictly on our behalf and under our instructions. These providers include Firebase/Google Cloud (for authentication, analytics, crash logging, and hosting), email delivery services, and moderation tools. These processors are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
5.2 Public Visibility
Certain information becomes publicly accessible when you use SnipFic. Your username, profile information, published stories, comments, likes, saves, and other interactions are visible to others. When you publish content, it may be included in SnipFic-generated shareable assets that can appear on external platforms. You should assume that anything you post on SnipFic may be publicly visible unless explicitly marked otherwise.
5.3 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information when required by law, when responding to legal process or enforceable governmental requests, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of SnipFic, our users, or the public.
5.4 Business Transfers
If SnipFic undergoes a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or asset sale, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to continued protections consistent with this Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.
Active Accounts: We retain your data while your account is active.
Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, we remove personally identifiable information associated with your profile (email, password, username linkage).
Preserved Content: Your previously posted User Content (stories, comments) may remain on the platform to preserve the integrity of discussions and shareable assets, but it will be de-identified and attributed to a generic system-managed account.
Backups: Encrypted backups may exist for a short period (typically up to 30 days) for disaster recovery purposes before being overwritten.
Minimum Age: If we discover that an account belongs to a user below their jurisdiction’s Minimum Age, we will delete the account and remove associated personal data.
7. Children’s Privacy
SnipFic is not intended for children who are below the minimum age at which they can legally provide consent to the processing of their personal data in their country of residence (“Minimum Age”). The Minimum Age is 13 in the United States, but may be higher in other countries. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the Minimum Age. If we discover such data, we will delete it and close the account. Users above the Minimum Age but still minors must use SnipFic only with parental permission. Users under 18 may not view content marked as adult or 18+.
8. International Data Transfers
SnipFic operates from the United States, and personal information may be stored or processed in the United States or other jurisdictions. Where required by law, we use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for international data transfers. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data protection laws.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:
Right to Access
Right to Rectification (Correction)
Right to Erasure (Deletion)
Right to Data Portability
Right to Restrict or Object to Processing
Users in the EU/EEA/UK may lodge complaints with their local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, you may contact us at support@spireinteractive.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding.
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a resident of California, you have specific rights:
Right to Know/Access: You may request the categories of personal information we collect, sources, purposes, and third parties with whom we share it.
Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
Right to Correct: You may request corrections to inaccurate personal data.
Non-Discrimination: You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Sale of Data: SnipFic does not "sell" your personal data as traditionally defined. However, under California law, sharing data with analytics providers (like Google/Firebase) may be considered a "sale" or "share." We ensure our service providers are restricted from using your data for their own independent purposes. We do not share data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
"Do Not Track" Signals: SnipFic does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals or other mechanisms that indicate a request to disable online tracking, as there is no uniform standard for how to respond to these signals.
11. Security
We implement reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These measures include encrypted network communication, secure authentication via Firebase, controlled access to data, and ongoing monitoring. Although we strive to protect your information, no system or network is completely secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.
12. Links to Third-Party Services
SnipFic may contain links to or integrate with third-party platforms or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or security of these third-party services. Your interactions with third-party platforms are governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.
13. Data Storage and Loss of Content
SnipFic is not a data backup, storage, or archival service. While we take reasonable steps to maintain the availability and integrity of the Service, User Content may be lost, corrupted, deleted, or rendered inaccessible at any time due to software bugs, outages, hardware failures, database corruption, security incidents, or force majeure events. You are solely responsible for maintaining your own copies of any content important to you.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. When changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as through email or in-app notifications. Your continued use of the Service after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
